Poison Ivy Removal

I have years of experience identifying this pesky plant in the wild and around buildings. With my $60 education estimate, I can assess the extent of the problem and advise you on the best course of action to take. Whether you're looking for removal services or prefer to tackle the problem on your own, I'm here to help.

If you prefer me remove it, I physically remove the poison ivy, instead of using chemicals. This is not only the most efficient method but also ensures minimal damage to surrounding plants. Plus, I’ll safely bag up and dispose of the poison ivy for your convenience.

Each site is different. The cost depends on where it's growing, the size of area and how tangled it is into your landscape. All projects start at $250 but I work with each client to understand and work within their wants and needs.

Common Questions

- How much will it cost to remove your poison ivy?

Each job varies quite a bit but so far my on average my jobs have cost around $500 for 4 hours. I charge based on how difficult or dangerous the job is. 1) Difficulty - Some vines are like pulling string and are super easy to get out of the ground. These I charge the least. Some brake easily leaving behind roots that now have to be dug out, so they don't regrow back. The most difficult is when the poison ivy is wound around objects like a prized bush or fence. This takes more time and effort to get them untangled and the poison ivy removed. For this kind of scenarios i charge more.2) Safety - Poison Ivy has an invisible oil that can stay effective for weeks after if not properly cleaned. Unfortunately, I'm not immune. I take proper precautions, but some environments increase the chance that I get the oils on me. Working in thick weeds or bushy areas make this risk much higher. I also charge for disposal and single use materials.

- Why do you work only 4 hours?

It might not seem like it up front but removing poison ivy can be exhausting so i need to break it up for my safety. Essentially, Its like working out at the gym and playing an eye spy game for 4 hours in a suit that keeps you 20 degrees warmer that outside with 100% humidity. Not to mention, it's very problematic to try to take a break without risking contamination.

- Why does it cost so much?

Simply put, its specialized work that most people want no part of. Removing poison ivy can be slow moving, difficult, tiring, and dangerous if you are allergic to the oil. It takes a lot of care to remove as much as possible, so as little as possible grows back. Doing a half-baked job will not work for this. Unfortunately, PI can be so dense that it takes a while to clear out one little section. With how hot the suit can be and the energy but the main factor is the oil. With this oil, you can't do things normally. I have to plan my movements in advanced to make sure i don't get poison ivy on me. How do I itch my nose if a bug was biting it? How do take off the suit without getting oil on you? It takes a lot of time and care to do this so the cost matches this.

- Will the poison ivy come back after I pull it out?

Unfortunately, yes some will come back. At best, I will only be able to remove 80%. This is due to how tenacious Poison Ivy is. If any piece of root stays in the ground it will grow a new. If there are seeds there will be new plants springing up. Its also easy to miss some. If there are loads of other plants around them its a giant game of 'I Spy'. Despite this, it really wipes out the population and reverses years of growth.

- Can you move around the area I cleared?

I would be cautious moving around the area unless you need to. Although the vast majority of the plants are gone, there could be left over plants and or oils smudged about that could cause you to get a rash.
